This will be a brief description on how to download and spawn a train on the RTS system.
Step 1. Locate a train that you plan on running on the RTS run sheets. There will be a purple download link if it is available to run.
Click on this link to download the file. Save it to a location that will be easy for you to find.
Step 2. Copy or cut this file to move it to the proper location. Use the pictures below to find the proper location to move the file into.
Step 3. Find your Run8 folder, in my case it is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Run 8 Studios\Run 8 Train Simulator" and select the "Content" folder.
Step 4. Inside the Content folder, select the Routes folder.
Step 5. Inside the Routes folder, select the route that the train will spawn on.
Step 6. Inside the routes folder, select the Trains folder.
Step 7. Inside your trains folder, you should see a list of trains, move your file into this folder. If prompted to overwrite the previous file, select yes.
Step 8. On the server, open the F1 screen, select the spawn tab, the trains tab, pick the subdivison the train will start from, select the train and spawn the train.
You should be transported to the head end location of the train that you have just spawned.
Finally capture your train, do the required paperwork and enjoy the trip!
One word of warning is not all spawns work as intended by the RTS software. This is known as an overflow spawn and basically means the train has spawned outside of the block boundary. Currently there is no way for the RTS software to detect an overflow or prevent it. However one way of checking this on the server is the auto EOT function. Basically if it works you are good to go, if it fails there is an issue. I did a video tonight of how to do this, and you can edit the train or copy it to the TMU to remove excess cars. Otherwise report this to an admin and delete right away. Cars may wind up in places like Sandcut for a Bakersfield overflow, or Frost? on a Colton overflow. Most other locations are long enough not to cause overflows.
